ATTENTION: EX-HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGIATE WRESTLERS…

Did you know that folkstyle and freestyle wrestling were originally called “Amateur Catch-As-Catch-Can” wrestling? There is a reason why those with a folkstyle wrestling background have statistically dominated mixed martial arts contests.

At the King of Catch Wrestling Championship competitive wrestlers can leverage their considerable pinning knowledge to win!

ATTENTION: SUBMISSION GRAPPLING, BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU, & MIXED MARTIAL ARTS FANS…

It isn’t controversial that catch-as-catch-can is well known as a pioneer in leglocks but The King of Catch Wrestling is proud that there are NO HOLDS BARRED, including neck cranks and chokes/strangles!

Many know that Mitsuyo Maeda taught Helio Gracie to fight.

What most do not know is that Maeda perfected his methods competing in Catch-As-Catch-Can tournaments (as “Count Koma”) at the turn of the 20th Century.

Rumoured to have fought over 2,000 matches in his career, he only lost two matches and one in the “catch-as-catch-can” world championships held in London (he entered in both the middleweight and heavyweight divisions and advanced to the semi-finals in two weight classes).

Maeda wasn’t the only one, the famed Masahiko Kimura learned legitimate Catch-As-Catch-Can while working as a Professional Wrestler for Rikidozan in the early 1950s.

The King of Catch Wrestling adds another layer of complexity to the ground game since the pinning provision (no more stalling on the ground, aka “lay and pray”) and our minimalist point system (no more stalling on the feet) pushes the action!

ATTENTION: PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING FANS…

Tired of people calling your passion phony?

Dare them to watch The King of Catch Wrestling Championship where top-tier athletes compete under classic Professional Wrestling rules FOR REAL!

What Our Athletes Have To Say About The KOCW

FROM OUR COMPETITORS

“This is without a doubt one of my favorite organizations to work with. No politics, egos or attitudes. Everything is settled on the mat.”

~ Johnny Buck (2016 King of Catch)

“The King of Catch is a tournament that I fully support 100%! As a former West Coast champion I would whole-heartedly compete again! The rules are amazing, all subs legal with multiple rounds, and a pin make for some exciting and challenging matches!”

~ Travis Newaza

“The King of Catch Wrestling tournament is one of the most challenging. I have seen some great matches and hope to see more in the future!”

~ Coach Ray Karakas

“As a two-time King of Catch Wrestling champion I have seen and been in some of the toughest matches so if you want to be king… step in the ring!”

~ Thomas Velasquez (2-time King of Catch Wrestling Champion)
